Tuesday, August 30, 2005 KATRINA.. Katrina hit New Orleans and Gulf Port, Mississippi hardest: Gulf port is completely leveled with all the casinos in the city made flat. 80% of New Orleans is under an average of 20 feet water. This is mainly because N.O lies 6-7 feet below sea level!! Now the worst things: It will be months before electricity will be restored in New Orleans. THere is rampant looting of shops and stores going on in downtown New Orleans. Latest reports were that a couple of looters attacked a police station with AK-47 rifles. The water level in the city is rising gradually, making it harder to drain the water out. Total losses estimated upto 26Billion dollars....yes it is BILLION not Million!!!
