Among the several things new are:
Moved into my new apartment! Its a 1-1/ 620 sq.ft and absolutely cozy! The basic requirements for any apartment I sign up for are it should be large enough for one messy person like me ;-) and should have a lot of daylight coming in. The very first apartment that I stayed in after coming to the US was a real rat hole where we had to keep the lights on even during the day. After that, daylight has been an absolute necessity into all other apartments that I moved into later on. My land lady is like a grandmother whom I bothered/bargained with so much before signing up so that she come down on the rent and she did like all grandmothers!! The location is also good in the sense that it does not get too much of direct sunlight which is a crucial factor in keeping the electricity bills down in Texas summers! Will post some pictures soon in a couple of days.
As soon as I moved in here, also got a good bargain on the high speed internet and cable connections, $45/month...which I think is quite cool. Coincidently got a Linksys wireless router for $5.00.
Also got myself a new external hard drive (80GB, Westrern Digital)) after a minor goof up at a concert recording. The drive works well and backing up data is now easy. I had one question about it though: Is is OK to back up data on the drive just like that by transferring files? The other option is to use the software provided (Retrospect) with the drive which basically codes the data and archives it. But the risky thing is, if the software develops a bug or malfunctions, all your back up is basically of no use as you will not be able to decode it. ANYBODY WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.
