On a Reading Spree...Lets see how long does it last...
I think I mentioned before, that I finished reading 'The Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown, of course an excellent read! But I also finished 'Angels and Demons' which is also equally gripping. Two successive Dan Browns seemed like watching Part I and Part II of a certain movie, but unlike my usual feeling of the sequel being a bit boring, both the reads did not disappoint me at all. 'Angels and Demons' is excellent too, and at some points I found it to be much more informative than 'The Da Vinci Code'. I am currently reading 'Five People You Meet in Heaven'....it seems to be quite philosophical and has its own interesting but mild twists and turns. I am enjoying reading it, because it is very small ~180 pages. Had it been something similar to the previous two, I would surely never have completed it. Next in line is 'Vernon God Little' by DBC Pierre or Michael Crichton's 'Prey'. The former I got it from the library, the latter I bought it in a sale along with 'Angels and Demons'.
I used to read a bit when back in India while going to and from work and home. Bombay traffic jams used to put me up on the BEST bus for atleast 45 mins with nothing to do than looking out of the window and inhaling the dust and smog and listening to the melodious car honkings and the auto rickshaws doing 'Trrrrrrr' and the BEST bus doing the 'Pooooaaannn-Puuuuuun', those horns that used to be on the tongas in the olden days!! Some of the good ones that I completely remember are:
- Fountain Head and We The Living by Ayn Rand (I find her novels just amazing)
-The Third Twin by Ken Follett (He is my favorite author and now Dan Brown too :)
-The God Father and Sicilian by Mario Puzo.
My reading wasn't that fast, especially while reading any of Ayn Rand's books, but I guess since I read slowly, I remember most of her stories! In the end I was reading 'Atlas Shrugged' but then somehow could not complete it. Don't know the reason, but it just got left out...will definitely complete it one day!
