"Commit all your crimes when Sachin is batting, they will go unnoticed because even the Lord is watching."
So read one of the banners when Sachin was on the way to one of his glorious moments. Here is an article on cricinfo.com describing Sachin batting on SCG (coined as Sachin's Cricket Ground). I think I don't need to say anything more, the article is well written, it is just a pleasure reading it.
The scene: Me driving my VW at 15mph desperately trying to find a parking spot in a lonely campus bylane. I see a battered raccoon lying splattered in blood in front of me, a fresh kill by a car probably a few minutes ahead of me. As I approach the kill to pass over it, when I am probably 25-40 feet away, swooping comes down this huge bird of prey- Old Turkey Buzzard and starts feasting on the dead animal. Check here for more info. I watch in awe.... as it rips apart the guts of the dead one. As I approach the bird, it sees me and gently goes walking (not even hopping) to the side of the road and after I have passed, comes back to resume its feast. Not a sign of fear for humans. An awesome sight and an awesome feeling, especially when I have seen this bird so so many times in the movie "Mackenna's Gold." The movie actually starts with the camera focussed on the eye of the turkey buzzard sitting on a rock in an Arizona desert. Then follows the famous track by Jose Feliciano called 'Old Turkey Buzzard'. Click this video to see the eye of the turkey buzzard and a conversation between a desert traveller and the turkey buzzard.
Check this video if you are interested in the opening music of Mackenna's Gold...it is a really catchy tune.
On a positive note towards the recent changes going on iin my life..
