ANANTASHRAM Closing Down!
For those who are from Girgaum, Mumbai will know what I am referring to and this news will be a sad shock to them. Anantashram is a small mess-type-restaurant located in Khotachiwadi, one of the numerous bylanes that constitute the area Girgaum. This place is really really well known for their fish and meat recipes and their eccentric owners-the Khadpe brothers. So eccentric and short tempered are they, that they have denied celebrities and famous people from dining in their place because they did not comply to the rules of their place. Pamela Bordes, 'New York Times' food critic and a famous Bollywood actress were among some of the unfortunate ones denied permission. My early childhood was spent in the bylane very next to Khotachiwadi and was very lucky to savor their recipes in my early days or whenever I visited India I did make it a point to visit that place. DR. WILLIAM BEAUMONT...
In a series of experiments that lasted 8 years, Dr. William Beaumont(1785-1853) monitored the digestive process by direct observation of a patient's stomach. The patient, Alexis St. Martin, had sustained a massive gunshot wound to his side. After the wound healed a small opening into his stomach remained, permitting its interior to be exposed to view. St. Martin's wound led to the discovery of Hydrochloric acid (HCl) in gastric juice and served as a basis for modern studies of digestion. To know more about Dr. Beaumont and St. Martin CLICK HERE. Start reading from 'His First Chapter With Alexis St. Martin'. Current Music : TAKE FIVE :: Dave Brubeck Quartet :: TIME OUT This track is just so so excellent!! :-)

No Sleep?? So what did I do for the last 1-1/2 week nights......
Of course watch movies :-)... Prepared for the upcoming and the last of the Star Wars Series: Episode III:Revenge Of the Sith..Hence saw all the previous Star Wars movies and connect them to each other and make sense out of them in terms of direction. I must say the movies are well made apart from the great special effects. Though Episodes IV, V & VI (starring Harrison Ford) were made in the 80's and I, II & III are being made 20 years later, the connection of technical advancement in the galaxy has been logical. Over all it gives a sense that all the parts together tell you about the life of one person Anniken Skywalker, from childhood to death. And what an ordinary person has to undergo if he lives the life of a Jedi :)
The other movie I saw was Don Juan DeMarco starring Johnny Depp...its an awesome movie...A must see for anybody....its absolutely fabulous!
Next I saw some hindi movies: Page 3- starring Konkona Sen, its another well made movie and Sen is amazing.
Then I saw 88 Antop Hill- One of the crappiest movies I have ever seen. It tells you how to create suspense out of nothing! I really don't understand a stage actor like Atul Kulkarni would pick up such a movie. The same guy in Page 3 and Chandini Bar has acted so well supported by a powerful storyline of course.
Then I saw The Andromeda Strain- excellent movie no doubt at all...telling us to keep life simple and the solution to all problems is the basic rule of parsimony!
Then I saw 2001: A Space Oddessey....- had seen it earlier, but just saw it again and now I wanna see 2010: The Year We Make Contact....again :)
Then I saw Hyderabad Blues-Part 2 - WARNING: Please do not see this movie...it was so trashy...its JUST JUST HORRIBLE!!

Sleep is so beautiful!!
For the last one and half weeks I have not been able to sleep before 1am and then the next day, mornings were terrible. This was probably due to the daylight saving time changes. Also my TA classes and other assignments made me get up early and the much wanted sleeping hours went on piling up!! Result is a drastic decline in concentration during the day and the inabillity to complete given tasks on time with efficiency. But yesterday at 11.15-11.30 at night I began dozing in front of the TV...and so went straight off to bed....and ohh what a feeling when I got up today morning.... absolutely fresh!! I also keep the window shades open before going to sleep (my window faces the east) so next day the 'Texas' sun shines so bright in my room, its just amazing! OR is it just the complete sleep thats doing the talking :-)
